Tested & Reviewed: The New Jones Road Beauty Lip Recharge
There is a massive misconception that as we get older, we need to reach for thicker, heavier formulations to “hide” things. After 27 years as a beauty editor, I can tell you that the exact opposite is true: you actually need to go lighter. We should be embracing our fine lines anyway, not accentuating them with cakey products that settle into every wrinkle.
And this is exactly why I’ve been such a fan of Jones Road Beauty since legendary makeup artist and fellow pro-aging advocate, Bobbi Brown launched the brand back in 2020. Her creamy, skin-first philosophy is a total game-changer for those of us who want to look hydrated and fresh, not “made up.”
So, whenever they launch something new, I’m always genuinely excited. I don’t always get their newness to review, so I couldn’t have been happier when the new Lip Recharge landed on my desk.
I couldn’t wait to try them…after my cat, Lily, finished pawing it off the table, of course!).
The Treatment-Gloss Hybrid
What I love most about this launch is that it isn’t just a gloss; it’s a treatment product. It has a brilliant high-shine finish that looks gorgeous, but it’s completely wearable and untacky. No hair sticking to lips thankfully!
What I love:
The Cooling Metal Applicator: This feels incredible. It’s instantly cooling, soothing and depuffing for the lips - using it feels like a mini-spa moment.
The Peptide Punch: It’s packed with moisture-boosting peptides - very on trend in skincare right now - that you can actually feel working to plump and hydrate over time.
The Texture: It manages to be rich and cushiony without feeling heavy or sticky.
The Shade Breakdown
I took these out into the Florida sunshine to see how they looked in true daylight (see the swatches below).
In order they are:
Dahlia: This is a sheer slightly burgundy tint with a lovely shimmer.
Petal: This is the ultimate “your lips but better” sheer pink. It’s soft, pretty, and goes with absolutely everything.
Lilac: Don’t let the unusual shade fool you! It’s a surprisingly wearable, sheer lavender with a delicate shimmer. It adds a lovely coolness that brightens up your face.
My thoughts:
If you’re looking for something that treats your lips while giving you that polished, effortless glow, this is perfect. It doesn’t settle into fine lines, it keeps the moisture locked in for hours, and the finish is just...😚 And my fav is surprisingly the Lilac…
