Why Jones Road's New Illuminating Drops Are Exactly What 50-Something Skin (& The Beauty Industry) Needs
It's not just about what's *inside* the bottle...
The Beauty Ed®’s Note: I was gifted these from the PR but I have no obligation to post or write about them. This post also contains NO affiliate links.
I’ve been really struggling with social media lately. Some of you who follow me on Instagram may have noticed. One minute, I’m like yeah, I love being a part of this, and then the next minute, I want to delete the app forever.
Maybe my beauty-focused algorithm is to blame. The industry that I work in often focuses on the negative way too much. And I get it - it’s part of the business model - but as I age, I’m not sure how comfortable I am tapping into your insecurities in order to encourage you to buy products that make you feel better. There’s too much focus on the negative things about aging as it is, and I believe that advertising campaigns targeting 40/50-something women need to be positive, empowering, uplifting, not filled with backhanded compliments convincing us that our value is tied to looking younger.
That’s why I love Jones Road Beauty. It is so celebratory about unique and individual beauty. It’s the reason that I’ve followed Bobbi Brown in her career for so long, and the reason I’ve written about her and her brands so many times over the years.

If you’ve been reading my work for a while, you know this isn’t my first time singing the brand’s praises. Here on The Beauty Ed®, I’ve shared my unfiltered review of the Jones Road Foundation Stick and given an honest breakdown of the Jones Road Lip Recharge. I’ve also written for HELLO! about how female-founded brands like Jones Road are changing the narrative around aging and I was also delighted to share Bobbi’s advice on thriving and living your best life as you get older.
And I just feel like the new Bright Skin Illuminating Drops kind of sum all of that up.
They really make your skin look and feel happier. No matter what your age. They give your skin a glow. They are not meant to fix anything. They are designed to boost what you have. The fact that they are so lightweight, it doesn’t matter how many wrinkles you’ve got - they’re not going to settle into those creases in an ugly way, they’re just going to blend into them - show them off in their best light - and give your skin a gorgeous glow.
I actually recorded an Instagram reel where I mixed the Champagne Shade two ways:
Direct to Skin: I applied them directly for a deeper tan shade.
Mixed with Moisturizer: This dilutes them for more of a gentle, lightweight finish.
Both applications give your skin like a lovely luminosity. And if you want more coverage, you can mix them with your foundation too.

Another huge beauty win for me is that all of the 6 shades compliment any skin tone - as you can see from the brand’s marketing image below…
I also love how they can also be used on your body too - they add a lovely shimmer to your collarbones ✨
